Last night, at Fort Dorchester High School, Thumbs Up Guys partners Brandon Dawson and Jeffrey Ward had the honor of presenting the Friday Night Rivals Scholar-Athlete Scholarship to the 2025 winner, Hannah Martinez Franco. We are honored to have the opportunity to help support Hannah’s education with a $5,000 college scholarship.
Throughout the fall’s Friday night football season, scholar athletes from throughout the Lowcountry were recognized for their academic excellence, athletic achievements, and commitment to giving back to their community. These students represent what it means to balance hard work in the classroom with dedication on the field, track, or court.
Hannah is graduating at the top of her senior class at Fort Dorchester High School with a 5.5 GPA. She is a three time recipient of the Board of Trustees Award for maintaining all A’s, as well as having been recognized on the Part Time Dean’s List at Trident Technical College.

Outside of the classroom, Hannah has been a four-year member of the volleyball team, including three years on varsity, and a one-year member of the varsity soccer team at FDHS. She earned multiple awards for her athletic performance, including the 2020 Patriot award for girl’s soccer, 2025 Hustle award for volleyball, and the 2024-2025 scholar athlete award by Prep Sports Awards.
She is an active member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and National Society of Leadership and Success. Hannah also founded the National Hispanic Heritage Club at her school, creating a space for cultural awareness and leadership.
Hannah and her family are immigrants from Columbia, and moved to the United States only four years ago. Only two years prior to moving, her father tragically passed away in a bicycle accident after being hit by a car. Hannah, her mom, and younger sister then made the brave decision to move to the U.S. as they healed from this painful loss.
