What inspired you to become a personal injury attorney?
Alex: To answer that, I really need to let you know where it all began. I actually initially started my career as a criminal prosecutor. I feel like I can “do good” in the world when I can help amplify other people’s voices and advocate for others. After being a prosecutor for 4.5 years and a civil and workers’ compensation defense attorney for about 3 years, I realized I was missing that opportunity to help others. A main part of my job as a personal injury attorney is to meet clients where they are and tell their story. I find such joy in helping people.

What’s one lesson a client has taught you over the years?
Alex: I had a client once who was hesitant to share their story because they thought it was “not a big deal.” As we worked together, they realized sharing even small details could make a big impact in their case. It reminded me that listening first, and really hearing clients, is a vital part of our job.
How do you help clients who are feeling overwhelmed by the legal process?
Alex: The biggest thing is breaking things down so nothing feels confusing or scary. I take time to explain each step in plain language, and I make sure clients know they can ask questions at any time, even about something they think is “simple.” Confidence comes from clarity, and that’s what I aim to give them. Ultimately, my job is to advise people. I can provide options, my opinion, and at the end of the day, I want the client to know that they can be the captain of their ship. We are on the same team and that message is something I strive to get out on day one.

What’s the most rewarding moment you’ve had working with a client?
Alex: As you know, I have had several cases where clients have had life-altering injuries as a result of a work accident or motor vehicle collision. They receive significant medical care and some have lost their jobs or exhausted all of their savings, while navigating their claim. Going through this is beyond devastating. Clients have wanted to call it quits and take the low ball insurance carrier offer, but they stayed the course and trusted me and the process. It is so rewarding securing a result that gives them relief and peace of mind. Seeing a client able to take a breath of relief is something I never forget.

What do you think clients need most from their attorney?
Alex: Beyond legal expertise, clients need empathy and trust. People come to us at some of the hardest moments of their lives and they need someone who not only fights for them legally but stands beside them personally through the process.
